Acton CE Primary Academy is a one form entry primary school catering for children aged 4-11. The school dates back to the 1800's, although has had several improvements and extensions since then. The school currently has 7 teaching spaces, a large hall, additional learning intervention bays, a large sports field, woodland area, garden and a playground. We are set in the picturesque small village of Acton, which is situated west of the historical town of Nantwich. We are proud to have close links with the Local Parish of
Acton and St Mary's Church, Acton. As a Christian school, our faith is at the forefront of our ethos and our Christian Values underpin all that we do.
From the very first thing in the morning, until the end of the day, the rooms of Acton hum with the excitement and enthusiasm of children seeking to develop their skills and expand their knowledge of the world. We believe children learn best through personal experiences so all of our staff work hard
to place learning in a real context, relevant to the child. Our school vision is to develop the learners of tomorrow and equip them with the skills to flourish and succeed. We believe that our Real Life Learning
Curriculum allows us to successfully accomplish this. By following a creative, skills-based curriculum aimed at promoting independent learners of the future, we feel that we engage and challenge the pupils and make learning fun. We know children achieve when they are happy and secure and Acton provides a caring, family atmosphere full of love and laughter. It is a place where all children are nurtured to reach their fullest potential; a place where they are enabled to have the highest of aspirations and achieve the highest standards.
We take great pride in the school environment and make it a place where children are stimulated to learn. We encourage them to take pride in their work and surroundings and share their achievements with others. We very much promote pupil voice, which can be seen through our successful well-
being warriors, collective worship ambassadors and school council. Children are given lots of opportunities to help shape and be part of our school and what we have on offer. Parental engagement is also an essential part of the school community. Friends of Acton work hard to raise funds for the school to enhance the children's education. We also have a very successful parent council, who work hard alongside the school to ensure that the parents and school link remains strong.
Acton Academy: where believing is achieving and learning is fun.
Calveley Primary Academy is a small, rural school of four classes set amongst beautiful Cheshire countryside. The setting of the academy is arguably one of the best in the county; almost entirely surrounded by farmland and trees and this has a really positive impact on the learning of the children. For example, last year, the academy was awarded the green flag for Eco-schools, the highest award given, for its work to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.
For a small academy, the outside space is vast. There is a large playground, a separate EYFS
outdoor area, tennis court and a substantial field. Furthermore, the academy also has its own bee
hives and produces its own honey!
Being in a very rural area, children travel from many surrounding areas to come to the academy: Winsford, Tarporley, Delamere, Nantwich, Crewe and, of course, the immediate catchment area. The academy is very much a community – school events are well attended, parents and staff enjoy a close working relationship and children have a real say about what goes on. There is also a very proactive fundraising group for the school who organise a wide range of activities for both children
and adults throughout the school year.
